On our visit to Costa Rica a few years ago we visited a butterfly sanctuary in Manual Antonio. It was such an amazing experience to walk through the garden and be surrounded by a multitude of butterflies. They allowed us to get up close and view them… and to photograph them. This is one of my favorites from that day – with its wings spread out and it’ proboscis in the flower gathering nectar. I love the details of both the butterfly’s head and the articulated plant it sits on.
