On a winter day some years ago I captured this photo at Stinson Beach in Northern California. I squatted low as I wanted to give the viewer the feeling that you were right there on the sand with me as the tide came up on the beach. I like the footprints, some of which were covered by the incoming water.

The people standing on the beach on the left partway down the beach and then others further down the beach accentuate the length of the beach – as do the clouds that seem to stretch out from near to far. I also really like the different colors of the clouds and sky.

I’m grateful that we live just under an hour from the coast. We’ve visited several spots but mainly make our way to this beach.
