This week’s Floral Friday Foto features the Hibiscus.
My earliest memories of Hawaii includes this unique looking flower. Whether by itself or in the hair of a Wahine (woman). It comes in many different colors and this one is so vivid with the contrast between the pale yellow and the vivid red in the center. I believe it’s a “target” to attract pollinators like honey bees and hummingbirds.

On the drive to Kealakekua Bay on the Big Island of Hawaii you descend to the bay on a road that skirts several beautiful properties. We pulled beside the road to capture this beautiful flower. Apart from the natural beauty and it’s colors – I love the muted (out of focus) background where you can also see some of it’s sister flowers as well as the stalks of other plants.
