Growing up I thought I knew what coral looked like – the solid white, craggy formations.  But as I became older and a little wiser I learned there are more colors and shapes of coral.

On our trip to Bunaken Island (Indonesia) last year I was flabbergasted (and delighted) to see firsthand so many different species of coral.  There’s soft coral in addition to hard coral.  Around the Bunaken Marine Park there are 390 species of coral!  Here’s a photo I captured with just a few of the coral seen around the island – I like the round shape of the coral at bottom right.  Grateful that a place like this still exists on earth!
