Captured this image while visiting the MOA – Museum of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. I feel like the photo captures the grandeur of this massive sculpture (made from a giant block of laminated yellow Cedar). The sky with a mixture of patchy white clouds and deep blue peeking in from the dome adds to the photo.
The sculpture is called “The Raven and the First Men”is the work of artist Bill Reid. The sculpture depicts a moment in the ancestral past of the Haida people when Raven found the first humans in a clamshell on the beach.
