This photo brings back a great memory. We were on a 3-day trek through the hills of Sapa District in Northern Vietnam. The first 2 days were pouring rain, off and on. Our guide (from Sapa Sisters) got us to this little roadside diner where travelers from all over were enjoying lunch.

I like the framing of my wife in the photo, leaning over on the railing to show the background while omitting the traveler behind her. The green, terraced rice fields dotted with the wooden dwellings is so characteristic of the whole region. And the clouds nestled in the hills in background remind me of the pervasive rains that keeps the hills so green. The smile on my wife’s face speaks of the fun adventure we were enjoying and the food in the foreground reminds me of the fresh dishes we ate at every meal.
