It’s no secret I love sunsets (and sunrises) – on our recent trip to the Big Island of Hawaii we were blessed with several colorful sundowns. One evening we elected to stay at our Kona hotel and view the end of the day unfold.
We captured photos from several vantage points and I got an idea to attempt to include the palm trees in the photo – I jogged up the outside staircase so that the sun would be parallel with the palms.
This is my favorite photo from all our Hawaiian sunsets. I love the tiny little glowing sun orb on the horizon, the ranges of orange in the clouds along with the dark silhouette of the palm trees and the rocky lava jutting out into the ocean. It captures a magic moment I will enjoy living again and again.
