On the Big Island of Hawaii there’s a spot my wife and I love to have a meal and a cocktail. It’s situated right on Kailua Bay, overlooking the ocean and the sunset from the place is often spectacular. I have taken photos and videos of the sunset here from many different vantage points.
On our recent trip to Hawaii I my wife looking towards the sunset and was inspired to capture this photo. I love the feeling I get when I see the image – apart from the person I love… the sun glowing just above the horizon, a combination of blue sky and moody clouds, the Mai Tai on the table illuminated by the sunlight and the 3/4 profile of my wife with the woven hat. I don’t know that I like the ropes in the photo but I don’t think for me it detracts from the moment.
By the way – if you visit the Big Island and want go get your own seat by the ocean, it’s at Huggo’s On The Rocks in Kona-Kailua.
