While traveling in Southeast Asia we were lucky to experience a few different floating markets. The largest we visited was in Vietnam and you traveled by boat to different vendors, this photo I captured at the Amphawa Floating Market north of Bangkok in Thailand. Here you would walk along the riverbank and the vendors were in boats moored along the banks (as well as vendors in shops on the shore).

I was drawn to the food vendors who creatively used every inch of space in their boat to make a gourmet floating kitchen. Here are two boats with the ingredients on the left boat and the grill and the protein (various seafood) in their right boat – just waiting for their next customer.

I love that there is so much color and different detail in this photo – from the many different spices in the little bowls to the umbrella wrapped up in the boat of the left boat (prepared for the occasional summer rain storm).
