Walking amidst wildflowers you can see why so many poems are written about Spring – especially in those climates where you endure a cold and snowy winter.

But, here in California we also enjoy the season of Spring without a snowy season before. I captured these flowers on a bike ride near Larkspur in Northern California. The orangish flowers in the foreground are (apparently) Sulphur Cosmos.

I love the split fields of focus – with the blossoms in front splayed in the sun and the fields of purple and orange out of focus in the background… giving the feeling of abundance and the bounty of the season.
