Driving across the island of Bali last summer my favorite guide Anwar Bali and I stopped at Lake Beratan to enjoy the views of the Ulun Danu Temple. It’s a lake nestled in the highlands of the Indonesian island. A very picturesque place where lots of tourists and locals come to enjoy the views.

I captured this photo of one of the many Gladiolus along the lake front. That’s the outline of the temple, out of focus in the background. I love the unique colors and the pattern on the flower. The silhouette of the temple, set against the lake and the partly cloudy sky add a unique element to the photo. I am fortunate that the temple has such a unique profile/outline that makes it more than just a dark ‘blob’.
