Throughout the island of Bali you’ll see an exterior gateway with a door that leads to an inner courtyard. With a little research these gateways are very important to the Balinese culture and are designed to allow passage while deterring malevolent spirits from entering. So many of these doors on the gateways are intricately carved and often very colorfully painted
This doorway was the entrance to our small courtyard at the Rama Beach Resort and Villas. The lush grounds of the Rama Resort and these gateways are very picturesque.
I love how the palm fronds are stretching out from the left frame and stretching out across the top of the door.
