We were fortunate to see this 3-Toed Sloth making its way (slowly) across a branch in the jungle of the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica. S/he did move with great intention and deliberation – that’s a nice way of saying it moved at a lower speed than many other animals would.
About this image, I like that the Sloth is nestled in leaves of the tree, clearly showing it in its natural habitat. And the fact you can see it’s toes – or more accurately it’s claws so well it important as it’s the front toes that determine if it’s a 2-toed or 3-toed sloth (yes, they are a different species.
