We live a short drive from the Carneros Valley in Sonoma County’s’ wine region. On top of a hill is the Viansa Winery surrounded by grape vines on one side and olive trees on the other. On a visit I saw a small patch of these California Poppies. I got down on my knees and captured some photos of this summer spectacle.
I love the collection of poppies standing tall with the statuesque olives in the background. In the distant background you can see the floor of the Carneros Valley and the foothills of Napa way behind. I did use the Mystical filter in my photo editor to give me the effect that I feel adds to this image.
