There are times when I attempt to capture a “slice of life” – particularly when it’s a lifestyle so different than what I am used to. We were walking around the town of Luang Prabang, Laos when I came across this woman working in her kitchen. As you might be able to tell, the kitchen is actually just outside their home. There is so much detail in this photo that paints a picture of the daily life of this woman and her family. The dustbin to the left made from an aluminum container. The firewood gathered for their stove, the tea kettle on the stove next to the black pot (with what I assume are dirty bamboo kitchen devices soaking in hot water). Even though she is turned away from the camera I feel it still works – as if we just stepped into her reality for a few moments.
